Check them out, two whole videos of classic Daytona action. Is this the whole ‘new Daytona’ we have all been asking for? No, not really, its unscaled to HD with the same old school textures.
“Here’s the short answer: It’s the original Daytona USA running at a higher resolution, but without the Daytona license. The long answer isn’t much more exciting — after seeing the game in action and playing each track a couple of times, it seems obvious that Sega Racing Classic is simply a repackaging of the original game with only minor enhancements and at least one painful omission: the iconic soundtrack, which introduced the exclamation “Daytonaaaaa!” into the gaming lexicon. It’s certainly not Daytona USA 3, and calling it an HD Remix even seems like a stretch.” – 1up’s Andrew Hayward
I have to admit, I’m rather disappointed! I wish it was like a remix game where you could play all the classic games, like Outrun remake, Daytona USA and SEGA Rally; with the ability to mix and match cars, tracks and music. I can dream, can’t I?
That being said, if there was a XBLA/PSN port, i’d buy it in a heartbeat. Hit the jump to see more videos of SEGA Racing Classic.
