Hardcore gaming fans are everywhere nowadays: gaming conventions, cosplay events, Gamestop, Xbox Live. Each one tries to figure out how to express their passion even more, trying to find a way to tribute the games and systems they love the most. Now, it seems many of you gamers out there have decided to express yourselves and love for video games through songs, or what I like to call “hardcore rap.” I searched you out and I’ve found you. Aren’t you so happy that you made the top 10 list of best video game raps (found on YouTube)?
ATTENTION: Viewer Discretion is advised. Most of these raps have some strong language. (But other than that, enjoy it and don’t laugh TOO hard.)
10. The FanBoiz-Smoke the Wii
This fantastic rap has been on Youtube for a couple of years now and still doesn’t get old. Yes, it was more relevant about 3 years ago when the Wii was newer. But all the same, it still holds a place in my heart. It is a tribute to the Nintendo Wii and its rivals, the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Best Line….ACTUALLY THE DANCING IS FUNNIER.
9. Sonic Rap
The rap at number nine features your favorite blue hedgehog. Featuring some rock elements with rhyming lyrics, it is definitely a Sonic-fied rap song. The funniest part and the number one reason it made the list is Dr. Robotnik’s voice. This impression is quite hilarious and that is definitely how Dr. Robotnik was meant to sound. Best Line-Anything that Dr. Robotnik says.
8. DeStorm’s Video Game Rap
First things first: he will go retro on you. DeStorm decided to make his rap to tribute “old school” games. The background of the video is gameplay from numerous games and is sometimes also incorporated straight onto his shirt and “swagga” shades. In all seriousness though, it is a pretty impressive rap. He uses so many game title references in about 3 and half minutes that it will BLOW your mind. Fortunately, the song still maintains a pretty catchy feel to it throughout the onslaught of video game titles announced. Props to DeStorm. Best line-”Now it’s making you jump, now it’s making you jump, now it’s making you jump.”
7. Castlevania II Rap
This rap takes the music of Castlevania II as its beat, and the lyrics honor the game itself. Speaking of your journey through the world of Castlevania II, the lyrics are quite clever and won’t fail to make you laugh. The thing that made this stand out for me was the use of different music from Castlevania II and the explanations of what was happening. Best line-”Blah Blah Blah horrible curse.”
6. Mario Kart-THE Rap
This guy has a Wii, Mario Kart, and rap in his heart. The rap is strictly about Mario Kart Wii, obviously. Even with one of the guys using an Xbox 360 controller to play the game, the rap itself is still plain hilarious. So many funny lines referencing characters and the series itself are in this rap and I think it should be featured in the next title. Who wants to start a freakin’ petition? Best Line-”Hey, let’s try battle mode!”
5. Halo 3 Rap
The shortest of all the raps comes in the form of a rap about Halo 3. The lyrics and beat are catchy, but Master Chief bumping up and down will win your hearts. Ain’t no party like a gangsta Halo party. Best Line-”Halo THREEEEEEEEE.” You’ll know what I’m talking about. Believe me.
4. Zelda Gangsta Rap
These guys are true video game gangstas. They’ve made lots of YouTube raps with two of them landing on this list. Fortunately for us, they decided to do one about Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and these guys are lyric geniuses. Some of the most funny lines I’ve seen in any rap, period. Referencing tons of Zelda elements, this one just can’t go wrong. Best line-”Drinking Lon Lon Milk like it was champagno.”
3. Modern Warfare 2 Rap
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare seemed to set the stage for first person shooters even when it didn’t have to. The popularity of the sequel has been great as well, and this guy wants to rap about it. One of the best beats and intros of the entire list, hands down. Best line-”Call of Duty is truly the best game….”
2. Bioshock 2 Rap
I know. It seems like I’m favoring newer titles at the top of the list, but the quality of these raps led them to deserve some of the top spots, and the Bioshock 2 rap is no different. This rap is probably the most complete song of the entire list. It has the beat, it has the clever lyrics and even has some funny points in the rap. Plus, we all know we needed a Bioshock 2 rap for our lives to be complete. Best Line-”1,2,3. This is Bioshock.”
1. Pokemon Gansta Rap
In the end, hilarious lyrics won out. This rap may be the best Pokemon song of all time. It definitely beats the original Pokemon theme. Not only does it produce hilarity throughout the video, the parody on rap music is also laughable. There is just so much to say, but just watch it. I guarantee you won’t be disappointed. Best Line -”Is there something in your pocket? No, I think I’m evolving.”

I thought the DeStorm Video Game Rap and the Modern Warfare 2 Rap were good. The Modern Warfare 2 Rap was probably the best one though.
The Halo 3 one isn’t that great…
Funny got the Halo 3 so far on the list. Something about Master Chief bumping to some tunes was just awesome and very, very funny.
I really liked the #4 and #1 vids. You’re right, those guys are probably the best. Didnt care much for the others.
destorms i like
Gonna have to go with Pokemon Rap as my fav too. Nothing is funnier than a bunch of gangster white boys rapping about stuff in pokemon :)
What about the Mario Land rap that was all rage here on The Kartel?

No Crakaz on the list?
“Da Black Market” from Bound Together is one of the best rap video game songs ever made, and I’m not just saying that because it’s my song…
I demand a followup article with GOOD rap songs!

I’m sure you can include some stuff from Shael Riley and one of his many side projects. The song “Juese Belmont” immediately comes to mind.
