For those unaware, James Rolfe, most commonly known as the Angry Video Game Nerd, is taking a break from making AVGN videos for April. Additionally, he will only be making one video a month, so that he can work on other projects, and ensure greater quality in AVGN videos. Love him or hate him (and most likely the former), his fans will miss his biweekly updates. Though, in my personal opinion, most of his videos as of late have been sub-par, due to time constraints, of course.
For those unaware, he does have his own web site for personal works. Here, he has several features, including links to his old videos from childhood and art school. The features include: links to Spike TV movie reviews/top 10′s, Board James, Monster Madness, and You Know What’s Bullshit.
The Spike TV links are self-explanatory, but Board James offers some unique insight into The Nerd. Aside from video games, his love of board games stems from childhood. Although this feature is small, he has plans to expand it quite a bit, including three upcoming videos. These videos tend to be mini-documentary style with some fun and dramatization–entertaining! Monster Madness is his yearly Halloweeen feature where he does snippets of horror movie reviews from past to present. During one year, he even dedicated the entire month to Godzilla movies! Badass. You Know What’s Bullshit bears little introduction: he simply rants about things that don’t make sense. This is probably my favorite feature of his, aside from the AVGN videos. Though, really, everything on the site is worth checking out. Enjoy!
He’s been really active for the last few years so if he wants to take a break more power to him.
I don’t have a problem with this, he deserves a break. Besides, the “April break” is normal since that’s when Screwattack’s contract with GT needs to be renewed (and that usually takes a month or so).

I love this guy, and really think he’s come a long way. I remember watching his shows when they first started coming out. I kind of agree that the break is necessary. Some of his newer stuff has seemed a tad stale. A break and longer production time between shows should help with that a lot. Looking forward to his return!
I have absolutely no problem with anyone taking breaks and slowing releases for quality reasons, to me it is a sign that someone cares about their work. I hope he enjoys it, and I can’t wait for the next AVGN vid.

I’m all for time off for higher quality stuff. It’s better than a hack and slash creation that comes out often, but lacks substance. I really enjoy his Board James series, good to know there are more on the way!

Even though I don’t watch his show regularly like some people here do I can still remember that Superman 64 review. I’m glad someone else in the world hates that game as much as I do. He deserves his break.
I guess I’m the only one who doesn’t get his ranting… It’s just an angry video game nerd being angry… That’s it right? I’m not missing something?
