Throughout gaming history, few games hold the legendary difficulty as the Mega Man series. To many core gamers and Mega Man purists, the recent decision by Capcom to include an "Easy" mode in upcoming Mega Man 10 was a major slap to the face. Posted up yesterday, this hilarious "Mega Man 10 Easy Mode" footage makes it obvious where the video's creator stands regarding current video game difficulty.
Not only a funny and well made video, creator Steve from Dueling Analogues really brings forth the debate on gaming difficulty and easy modes. While he credits the argument of opening the game to a broader audience, Steve notes that many other Mega Man spin-offs have already done this, and ultimately wants to keep the classic Mega Man heart and soul in the original series.
One can't help but laugh at intensity of the "difficulty" argument in the video game industry, so it's nice to see at least some creative pokes instead of throwing tantrums in game forums. Though I am all for opening up gaming to broader audiences, I can see where Steve is coming from. The Olympics wouldn't be quite as exciting if everybody could participate and got a medal for "trying." Still, I personally don't see the harm in having multiple settings, as lord knows "nightmare" or "hell" modes are more than a challenge for me.
